over 14,000 children in foster care in Georgia

In 2008, we had 8,100 children in foster care. That number has climbed to over over 14,000 children this year. There are 350 children currently waiting to be adopted.

Average cost to adopt is $10,000 to $30,000

The average cost to adopt a child can range from $10,000 to $30,000, which is money that many willing families do not have. Last year, our state had to spend more than one million dollars to house children in hotel rooms because there are not enough foster homes to place them in. It is projected DFCS will have to spend more than double that in 2020.

We will work to reduce foster care and increase adoption

As Christians open their hearts to foster and adopt children, we will bring training and support around them through church families and partnering organizations. We will work to see the number of children in the foster care system decrease and increase the number of Christian families ready to foster and adopt.
