Day 4: (strength·en) Missions
Almost one out of three Baptist churches in Georgia have no strategic plan to actively implement the Great Commission. Although churches should be involved in praying for missionaries, giving to support missions causes, and going on mission trips, many churches find it difficult to know where to start in the missions engagement process.
As a part of the Great Commission, Jesus explained that his followers should be actively witnessing locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally (Acts 1:8). A primary calling and function of the church is missional activity that results in more disciples.
Although about 70 percent of Georgia is lost, there are pockets of lostness throughout the state greater than 95 percent. Some ethnic and language groups in Georgia still have no Baptist church. There are some key cities in North America with large populations of lostness that still need heavy engagement by missionaries. Some unreached people groups throughout the world may not be engaged without churches becoming informed and intentional about being on mission with God in those areas.
To meet that need, the Georgia Baptist Mission Board is helping churches engage pockets of lostness of which they might otherwise have never been aware. A part of the new missions strategy of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board is to help churches in their missions engagement. Within six regions, partnerships will be formed for missional effectiveness. Churches will begin to reach urban centers in North America and around the world in exciting new ways.
Your Mission Georgia Offering this year will help reduce lostness in Georgia by providing new missionaries in Georgia and by providing strategic direction for Georgia churches with missions partnerships at home and abroad.
Pray for Strengthening Of Missions By:
- Asking the Lord to send more workers into the harvest fields in Georgia this next year.
- Believing that lostness will be reduced and that people groups in Georgia will have a church that meets in their heart language.
- Trusting God with missional engagement in new key cities throughout North America and around the world.
