Day 5: AGELESS Through Caring
International Student Ministry
Teresa Royall is campus minister at Georgia State University (GSU) in downtown Atlanta. She has directed hundreds of students from around the world to experience a positive, vibrant witness for Christ through the efforts of Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM).
Her disciples and volunteers are trained to greet international students at the airport upon their arrival to the US in preparation for university enrollment at Georgia State. Once introduced to American culture, they are introduced to Christ and His life-changing principles.
American students and their families have “adopted” those from foreign lands in an effort to befriend and share the ageless Gospel. The results have been a beautiful mix of Christian compassion and transformation.
One example is a GSU student from Vietnam who committed his life to Jesus Christ as personal Savior through the Gospel impact of the BCM. He was recently baptized in one of our Georgia Baptist churches. Since then, he has returned to his homeland where Buddhism is the predominant expression of faith. He reported that, “My BCM is a beautiful community; they are my family.”
This example of outreach and discipling is one of many which highlights why your gifts through the Mission Georgia Offering are making a difference in our world and around the world.
Georgia Baptists have a presence and witness for Christ on 50 college campuses across the state.
- Teresa Royall as she leads Collegiate Ministry at GSU.
- God to bring more students to a saving knowledge of Christ through international ministry.
- All students at our 50 BCM’s across Georgia to be spiritually sensitive to persons of all cultures.
